On Wednesday, members of the county's "Human Trafficking Response Team" shut down the Wellness Massage Center on Presidents Court in Frederick following a lengthy investigation into illicit activities inside the building.

According to investigators, it was determined that the business would provide certain sexual acts in exchange for money, and the business was issued a "stop work order" to prevent it from continuing to operate.

Officials say that investigators are now evaluating evidence recovered from the business and charges are pending.

"Once again, because of great teamwork with our local and federal partners, we were able to effectively identify and dismantle a prostitution and human trafficking network operating in Frederick County,” Frederick County Sheriff Narcotics Investigations Section Lt. Chad Atkins said.

“If you are a victim of human trafficking or have information to report about this type of criminal activity, call the National Human Trafficking Hotline (at) 888-373-7888."
